Ask & Plan Modes

Chorus has two chat modes. Switching between them controls whether your conversation creates work items or stays exploratory.

Ask Mode

The default mode. Chat with your AI team freely — ask questions, brainstorm ideas, get advice. Nothing is created on the Items Board until you're ready. Think of it as a conversation with your team.

• "What's the best way to handle user authentication?"
• "Can you explain how the dashboard is structured?"
• "What would it take to add dark mode?"

Plan Mode

Switch to Plan Mode when you're ready to commit. The AI team will structure your idea into a formal feature spec and add it to the Items Board. From there it can be prioritized, assigned, and built.

• "I want a settings page with email preferences and notification toggles."
• "Add a search bar to the top of the dashboard."
• "Build an export-to-CSV feature for the analytics table."

When to use which

Use Ask Mode when you're exploring or unsure. Use Plan Mode when you know what you want built. You can always start in Ask Mode and switch to Plan Mode once the idea is clear.
